Yes, they are designed to be permeable. So when dry they are very uncomfortable and tight. But that indicates a good fit (as long as you can still breath). They absorb water and trap a thin layer between your skin and the inside of the suit. Your body then heats up the water to work as a kind of jacuzzi to keep your body temp. up. If you get one that is comfortabme when dry, there will be too much room between you and suit when wet, and your body will not be able to properly heat the water. Good luck!

I'm going to myrtle beach on August 13 and plan on taking surfing lessons while im down there. I will wear a Tankini with board shorts but i heard it was a good idea to get a rash guard too! plus the waves and just the loose top thing.....lol soo where can i get a juniors rash guard! ive looked everywhere on line almost and can't find any besides roxy or soemthing but its kind of more than i wanna pay! where could i get a cheaper FEMALE one...i have heard to check wal mart and target...theres nothing but mens...

Go to a surf shop when you get down there or go back to Target/Wal-Mart and get the guys one just in a small size that fits you. The only difference between guys and girls rashguards are the sleeve length.
