Question by Texas aTm Buser: Poll:Am I "Stupid and Worthless"?
I never *Failed* a class. Most of the grades at my other institutions have been pretty good. Since I transferred into A&M most of the time I get C's. Even my overall GPA is 2.25 while my "In major" right now is 2.0 (I know that cant be right because I got a B in an icthyology course) I even got a C "Scuba Diving" (Which pissed me off because that was his judgement which went against what he said at the beginning of the semester). Throughout this academic year I need to be looking for a summer internship and I can graduate next August. I am not taking easy class. I am taking classes like Genetics, Natural History of the vertebrates,Natural history of the invertebrates, Aquaculture, Principles of fisheries management etc. I am really embarassed. Especially with that Scuba Grade. I have no idea if employers will just blow me off because of that and think I am worthless. :/

Question by Cheryl S: Factor V Leiden and Scuba Diving?
My 16 year old is a scuba diver and just was diagnosed with Factor V Leiden. This is a blood disorder which makes her more susceptible to blood clots. We went to the hematologist last week. Nice guy, but he's not American and has literally never heard of scuba diving. He was asking my daughter "well, what do you wear when you go scuba diving?" and "How do you hold your breath for that long?" In other words he doesn't have any concept of the depth of length of time under water that is involved.
Then he said "Well, I don't see a problem with that."
I'm not at all confident with this answer. Scuba usually involves a change in pressure, obviously, and I'm concerned this can cause clotting issues. Can someone please offer some level of expertise on this?
Oh, I have no intention of letting her dive any time soon. I don't trust people online with life or death decisions...just wondering if anyone has ever heard of this as being an issue.
If you have no knowledge of the matter, please don't waste your time or mine preaching to me on how to parent. There are different categories for that, thanks.
