What do you wear under wet suits?

Do you wear any underwear or anything because i'm going to be doing some water sports and i'm a girl who doesn't really like to wear things that cling to me. I feel suffocated and very exposed, so do you like wear anything underneath like underwear?
For girls, i may be on my periods, and i hate wearing tampons beacuse they hurt me really badly, would a pad be a really bad option?

Typically it's either nothing or a bathing suit. (I prefer bathing suit). Sorry, but pads are kind of out of the question...water leaks through wetsuits; that's how they work! Wetsuits trap a layer of water against your skin, which your body heats with its own heat and you thus stay warm because your body isn't trying to warm the whole ocean...only a little water.

Dry suits trap air against your body, which is warmer, but dry suits are expensive and require a lot of maintenance. Not really worth it.

Sorry about the pads thing...I know, I HATE TAMPONS! I can hardly force my body to use them even in extreme cases! Just relax and keep trying. : /

Where can I find books on patternmaking for swimwear designs? Where can I get samples of the materials I might use in swimwear?

Hi,

I would suggest that you visit the sites below. Some are for aspiring designers, some are for reading material. I would also suggest that you call your local (or closest) community college) They usually have a "community education" or "Learning Annex" type of program. At my local Community College you can get one day or 2 days workshops, varying in hours and price. usually 29-99 dollars. and the "teacher" is someone in that chosen field. You can also call your local fabric stores, they usually hold beginners classes and advanced classes and even one on one sewing classes. They will also be the ones that can direct you best to local pattern makers, seamstresses and other small business owners that deal with design. You can contact these peple and become their interns to learn as much as you can hands on or simply ask them questions.

What are the best sun-protection suits for toddlers?

My son and I are going to the U.S. Gulf Coast this spring for a beach vacation. He will be 20 months old when we go, and he has very fair skin (as do I). So far I've been able to prevent him from getting a sunburn or even a freckle because I'm very diligent about using sunscreen and hats when we go outside. With the intense sun of the beach, though, I'm concerned about him getting a burn.

I'm thinking of getting him some SPF clothing but am not sure what brands/styles are the best. Does anyone have a recommendation that they would like to share?

Also, any recommendations on sunglasses? He's never worn them before so I'm not sure how he'll tolerate them but I'd like to do what I can to protect his eyes too.

Coppetone is best. In Florida they have a whole line for toddlers. Sunglasses would be good. Get him used to them now before he goes. Then he will have no problem with sunglasses.

can surf rash guards be worn under a wetsuit for extra warmth?

Can't hurt. I used to wear one under my old zipperless 3/2, made it a little easier to get out of. Not sure it added much warmth though. I have a couple 1.5 mm tops and a 2 mm vets that would work but my new suit (O'Neill 4/3 Heat) doesn't need any additional help
