I’m no expert but I wash mine before it dries in fresh water, no chemicals and hang dry in the shade, naturally. Never had any problems..but it’s not a top level one..maybe I’d try better if ever get a really good one.
Edit: But if you’ve a good one it appears this is the prescribed fashion..http://www.mcnett-outdoor.com/Repair-Guide/Tips/Wetsuit-Cleaning-And-Care/370.aspx obviously other cleaning products exist.

After use dip it in a very mild disinfectant/water solution for 30 minutes then rinse with fresh water and hang to dry. Using a coat-hanger is OK as long as it is of the wide type or you can add some extra padding to it so as not to put creases in the Neoprene. Once dry you can dust any unlined Neoprene like ankle & wrist cuffs with a an un-scented talc and then store the suit in a cool, dry, dark place.

Well before it dries i usually hand wash mine in a lovely smelly
soap-powder…
Becouse if i wash it when it’s dry it doesn’t allways get clean, or smell very nice…
Hope i helped (L)
