While training for a triathlon should I use a wet suit while swimming indoors, or just outdoors?

I am training for a triathlon and I am not sure if I should wear a wet suit while training in an indoor pool or just a regular swim suit.
You should wear for practice whatever you plan to wear in the actual event.

Hey Josh,
Congrats on starting the training! When is the race?
You shouldn’t use a wet suit to swim indoors. Most pools are a little too warm (even if there not heated) to use a wet suit. Just use your regular swim suit and you’ll be fine.
If you get a chance, before the race try using your wet suit in a lake / ocean so you get the feel for it and get to break it in.
Good luck!

Some of the time, yes.
You need to be sure that what you purchased fits, that it doesn’t chafe (or if it does, that you know where so you can deal with it before the race), that you are able to swim in it effectively without suffocating or doing barrel rolls, and so on.
But for the most part, no.

To train properly for the swimming leg of a triathlon you need to swim both indoors and outdoors (eg. ocean).
Indoor swimming training is where you should learn proper technique, develop endurance etc. For this you do not need to wear a wetsuit.
Outdoor swimming training is to help you prepare for the event by learning how to move through open water. Swimming in open water is a lot different to swimming in a pool. As a triathlete you should learn the rhythm of open water swimming. For this you should wear what you would be wearing in your race to help with this preparation.

i absolutely would so taht you get accustomed to being in it. If you can swim fast with it on then you’ll know exactly what to expect in your triathalon.
